UPCOMING ANTICIPATED MOVIES OF 2013 : Selection A

oblivion-posterOBLIVION- the 2nd feature by Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski. Trailer for this mysterious Sci-Fi film looks good and a solid cast in super-stars Morgan Freeman and Tom Cruise makes this an easy sell.

star_trek_into_darkness_ver2_xlgSTAR TREK INTO DARKNESS- JJ Abrams follows up one of the most acclaimed entries not just in the Star Trek francise but for Sci-Fi in general with this entry. Great trailer, makes this a MUST SEE in the theaters.

fast_and_furious_six_ver3_xlgFASY AND FURIOUS 6- WAS never a fan of the franchise, but Justin Lin’s helming the 5th movie piqued my interest, and he is on board for this 6th entry. Plus the trailer is just fun!

riddickRIDDICK- Yet another interesting and appealing looking film in a 2013 that is poised to be a very good year for Sci-Fi films.

thebutlerTHE BUTLER- Dramas are not my favorite genre. I can do without DRIVING MISS DAISY type film-making, this includes films like Lee Daniel’s PRECIOUS. Just not subject matter I’m remotely interested in.

That said the premise of this latest Lee Daniel film, THE BUTLER, a look at the White House from the viewpoint of the butler that has served consecutive administrations… intrigues. Add to that a FANTASTIC cast, possibly the cast of the year, that includes Forest Whitaker, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, John Cusack, Lenny Kravitz, Vanessa Redgrave, Mariah Carey, to name a few; and you have a film that screams to see it in the theater. Also interested in checking out the director’s 2012 golden-globe nominated film PAPERBOY.

OBLIVION starring Tom Cruise/Morgan Freeman! Poster & Trailer!!

Oblivion

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

The trailer has Tom Cruise at the center of a sci-fi tale about the mystery of a devastated Earth. The pluses are the film looks visually sumptuous, it stars Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. The negative is the trailer doesn’t exactly excite or wow, in fact comes off a bit plodding, which is never a good feel for a trailer.

Here’s hoping both future trailers and the movie itself exceed first impressions.
