NETFLIX – At about $9 a month if you were to sign-up today, the channel has proven itself definitely worth that amount, with its impressive and ever changing library of movies and television shows, as well as its slate of award winning original content to include HOUSE OF CARDS, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, HEMLOCK GROVE and soon to be LONGMEYER and a host of new Marvel Studio releases to include DAREDEVIL, POWERMAN, INRONFIST, and more.
For those of us who don’t need or want cable, having Roku and Netflix is a no-brainer, however because of its growing stable of original content Netflix is becoming a must see destination even for those who do have cable. Given that popularity, I see cable companies making deals with Netflix to offer its original content via their on-demand services, to its customers.
Increasingly Netflix shows are the hottest on TV and Netflix, if they are smart, will with their newfound muscle, push for broadband providers to once more offer affordable unlimited cellular broadband packages. Packages that were eliminated and made cost prohibitive to seemingly strangle Netflix adoption. But clearly that has not worked, so a return to those packages as part of any deal with the cable/broadband companies, would serve everyone’s interests.
Some of this month’s highlights are NEBRASKA with Bruce Dern, Season 1 of HELIX, Season 1 of AGENTS OF SHIELD, Season 1 of BEING MARY JANE.
