Real quick movie recap.
With the exception of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, that lived up to the greatness of the trailer, I have no interest in seeing most of the other movies currently in theaters or on the horizon.
The Devil Inside, uhh— pay theater prices on an untried Director and an Exorcist pastiche? I think not. That’s DVD fodder.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo- I’ve been pretty underwhelmed with Fincher in his last few movies. And I don’t think a long, talky feel bad movie, that is nearly 3 hours is going to do much to change that view. But I’m hopeful he can prove me wrong. It’s a DVD rental.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows- I wasn’t a fan of the first one. So this is definitely not a must see, but if I get it at matinee prices I might check it out.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is likewise a maybe. I have doubts about the films ability to be engaging.
As far as upcoming films…
CONTRABAND- no interest in seeing this Marc Wahlberg film. Kinda like Matt Damon he’s an actor that I have no interest in
DIVIDE- by Xavier Gens, group dynamics under pressure, not interested
UNDERWORLD- With 4 different writers attached, this film doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. But the trailer looks interesting, if in no way original. It’s a big maybe.
HAYWIRE- Soderbergh is pushing this flick hard, but… I have no interest in paying theater prices to see it. It’s a DVD rental.
In-fact the only film that has me interested in seeing if for the rest of January is THE GREY by Joe Carnahan and starring Liam Neesen.
Well that’s all for now. More later.
